Introduction:
PSORIASIS
Psoriasis is a common, chronic, non-communicable skin disease characterized by circumscribed red patches covered with white scales.
Causes:
Psoriasis is the result of several factors including genetics, environmental factors, and the immune system.
Types:
Plaque psoriasis: is the most common form of the disease and appears as raised, red patches covered with a silvery white buildup of dead skin cells. These patches or plaques most often show up on the scalp, knees, elbows and lower back.
Guttate: appears as small, dot-like lesions. This type of psoriasis often starts in childhood or young adulthood, and can be triggered by Streptococcus infection. This is the second-most common type of psoriasis, after plaque psoriasis.
Inverse psoriasis: shows up as very red lesions in body folds, such as behind the knee, under the arm or in the groin. It may appear smooth and shiny.
Pustular psoriasis: characterized by white pustules (blisters of noninfectious pus) surrounded by red skin. The pus consists of white blood cells. Pustular psoriasis can occur on any part of the body, but occurs most often on the hands or feet.
Erythrodermic psoriasis: is a particularly severe form of psoriasis that leads to widespread, fiery redness over most of the body.

Types:

Pharmacology:
HR 22 has potent antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and antipsoriatic properties. It includes Carduus Mar, Hydrastis can, Mezereum, Rhus Tox, Sarsaparilla and Sulphur. HR 22 is effective skin stimulant and rubifacient, it also have immunostimulating effects. The main constituent’s hydrastine which contains berberine has broad spectrum antibiotic activity against bacteria, majorly streptococcus, salmonella typhi, and staphylococcus species. HR 22 blocks the secretary effects of toxins produced by several pathogenic bacteria. HR 22 has 3 times potent antipyretic activity. It lowers the fever by increasing the immune system’s handling of fever-producing compounds from microorganisms. Formula with properties:
Cardus mar 1D: Itching on lying down at night. Varicose ulcers (Clematis vitalba). Eruption on lower part of sternum.
Hydrastis can 1D: Eruption like variola. Lupus; ulcers, cancerous formations. General tendency to profuse perspiration and unhealthy skin.
Ichthyolum 12D: Heat and irritation; itching. Scaly and itching eczema. Crops of boils. Pruritus of pregnancy. Psoriasis, Acne, rosacea, erysipelas.
Rhus tox 30D: Red, swollen; itching intense. Vesicles, herpes; urticaria; pemphigus; erysipelas; vesicular suppurative forms. Glands swollen. Cellulitis. Burning eczematous eruptions with tendency to scale formation.
